Herb Garden Containers

You don’t have to spend money on containers to grow beautiful herb gardens. I dug through an old junk pile my Dad has and found the perfect terra cotta herb garden containers. One persons junk is another persons treasure! You can do this project on any terra cotta or plastic pot that may need a little pick me up.

I thought these would make the perfect herb garden planter as an addition to our garden. The best part for me was not having to worry about weeds taken over the tender herbs that I planted. Not having to get down on the ground was another bonus. The only problem I found was that they weren’t pretty enough. Scrub the surface really well with a scrub brush and water and let them dry. Next I took a Scotch Bright pad and lightly scratched the surface.

Grab a cold drink and all of your supplies and get ready to get creative!

Prepped and ready to go I found some shade to start this project.

Collect the right materials to make your terra cotta herb garden containers beautiful!

Measure and tape off the space you want to paint in with masking tape.
I used Rust-Oleum black finish chalkboard paint for the background color. For my writing I used a Krylon short cuts paint pen, and Martha Stewart multi surface satin acrylic paint.

In a world that is lacking in kindness, happiness and joy add your own!

After you paint the chalkboard paint on carefully peal off the tape before it is dry. I do this because If you wait for it to dry it will peel up some of the edges up when you remove it. Let the surface dry overnight before adding your detail. You are about to get to the fun part in the next step.

My Favorite thing is to surround myself with great reminders of Kindness, Happiness & Joy through the projects that we make for our little farm. These painted herb garden containers did just that all summer long and for years to come.

I chose to add happiness quotes to my theme! We have tried to find great positive ways all around our property to add little touches of joy, kindness and happiness reminders. Sadly, we all live in a world that is not always kind, happy and full of joy so why not make your own?

Final Step is to fill it with dirt and plant your desired herbs!
